World Series 1952 Yankees vs Dodgers

During the past few years I became interested in following the Toronto Blue Jays. Now that they are not in the World Series, I continues to follow the playoffs.  In 2024 the Yankees and Dodgers are in the World Series.

I was reminded when I first listened to a World Series Game

Quote from my autobiography, Notes and Clippings (Page 19).

"Through grades eight, nine, and ten I no longer had any comments from my teachers. Harold Elliott completed the grade nine and ten and stayed on for the next year. Mr. Elliott brought a radio to school on October 7, 1952 so we could listen to the seventh game of the Baseball World Series between the New York Yankees and Brooklyn Dodger. The Yankees won 4 to 2."

The 1952 World Series featured the 3-time defending champions New York Yankees beating the Brooklyn Dodgers in seven games. The Yankees won their 4th consecutive title, tying the mark they set in 1936–1939 under manager Joe McCarthy, and Casey Stengel became the second manager in Major League history with 4 consecutive World Series championships. This was the Yankees' 15th World Series championship win, and the 3rd time they defeated the Dodgers in 6 years.

In Game 7, the Yankees' second baseman Billy Martin made a great catch, preserving the Yankees' two-run lead. Also, the home run hit by Mickey Mantle during the 8th inning of Game 6 was significant because it was the first of his record 18 career World Series home runs.

In the 1950s, the Brooklyn Dodgers became the Los Angeles Dodgers as the team made its historic move to the West Coast in 1958. Despite the change in location, the Dodgers dominated the National League, winning five National League pennants (1952, 1953, 1955, 1956, 1959) and World Championships in 1955 and 1959.
